Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Scholarship Program

This scholarship program is set up for seasoned professionals who are interested in further strengthening their leadership skills.

In the non – degree program level, they offer the professional development through university courses, attending conferences, networking, and practical work experiences.

It is good to not though that the scholarship program will not allow you to make  choice of school as t has a number of host institutions where successful applicants are placed.

The selected host institutions include American University, Washington College of Law, Arizona State University, Boston University, Emory University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Michigan State University, Pennsylvania State University, Syracuse University, University of California, Davis, University of Minnesota, Humphreys School of Public Affairs, Vanderbilt University, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

The courses of study for non – degree programs include – Agricultural and Rural Development, Communications/Journalism, Economic Development, Educational Administration, Finance and Banking, Higher Education Administration, HIV/AIDS Policy and Prevention, Human Resource Management, Law and Human Rights, Natural Resources, Public Health Policy and Management, Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, Trafficking in Persons Policy and Prevention, Technology Policy and Management, and Teaching of English as a Foreign Language.

The program offers at least 200 scholarships to students every year, and the program is available to eligible candidates from Sub – Saharan Africa, Europe and Eurasia, Middle East and North Africa, East Asia and Pacific, South and Central Asia, and Western Hemisphere

The scholarship is said to cover tuition fees, maintenance allowance, Accident and sickness coverage, book allowance, a one – time computer subsidy, Air travel, professional development allowance for professional activities and Pre – academic English language training (for persons that require it).

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have a first degree, a minimum of five years of professional experience, limited or no prior experience in the US, a record of public service in the community, and English Language ability.

The scholarship program is said to vary from country to country, but basically falls between May and September every year.
